Loxley Canvas – adding paint
Started to add a base of flesh tones. The paint is going on incredibly smoothly – I’m loving these canvases. I’m using raw sienna and light read with white for my flesh tones – these are my go-to colours for portraits. Another layer of paint, the colours are starting to stand out on the linen….
So how did we do in 2017?
This time last year I had the idea of doing 365 sketches in 365 days – and I’ve failed miserably… However, there are plenty of things that proved successful.
Christmas is getting closer
We have skipped forward a couple of stages here – I seem to have neglected to photograph the first colour layer in oils. Hopefully the recording I’ve been doing will show the progress from monotone to this stage so watch this space. This has now had a couple of glazes of colour over the skin…
Loxley Clear Linen Canvas
Very excited to be giving these clear primed linen canvases a go from Loxley. I have 3 figure paintings planned and shall be painting in oils so I’ll work on the 3 concurrently – means I can switch paintings when I need to leave layers to dry. The natural linen works really well with flesh…

Nice artwork Jackie – I’ve (accidentally) taken on role of curating art and interesting stuff for 18 month popup gallery/ artspace that opened in May at the old Cov telegraph offices&printworks in Cov city centre. Not my normal thing but I know the guy who owns the site and hadca bit of spare time so offered to try and turn it into something groovy while it was sitting empty waiting for him to get cash /time to redevelop properly. So.. if you’ve any art or prep sketches (anything interesting basically) drop me a note and I’ll sort you some freebie gallery space as we’ve acres of it.
