Be with me always

I’m always on the look out for interesting backgrounds that don’t distract from my figures and, if possible enhance and add to the composition without being too detailed. I liked the idea of a figure emerging from the background so painted a couple of figures on green. I intended to use green as an undertone for the flesh then glaze skin tones on top but I liked the effect of the green, feeling it had a mystical quality. The two pictures suggested wild romance so I decided to base them on Wuthering Heights.
